Lot Essay

Roger Moore wears an identical suit to the one in this lot when he dines with fellow agent Mary Goodnight [Britt Ekland] at a restaurant in Bangkok. He propositions the young agent only for her to walk off leaving Bond on his own. Feeling dejected Bond retires to his hotel room to find his first unexpected guest of the evening; Goodnight appears from Bond's bathroom and succumbs to his charm, however they are interrupted by a second uninvited guest. As Bond hides Goodnight under the bed sheets he waits, armed in the cover of dark for the intruder to reveal themselevs. He is surprised to find it is Andrea Anders [Maud Adams], Scaramanga's love interest. After Bond has diverted Anders he then persuades Goodnight to hide in the hotel wardrobe, leaving him to seduce Anders, once she has admitted to sending the Golden bullet to the British Secret Service and that Bond is the only man Scaramanga fears as he's the only man who is able to kill him.
