Memories are Made of This

To match the perfect wine to the perfect occasion is one of life’s great satisfactions. So we took superb vintages, revered producers and renowned vineyards. To this, we added the benefit of Christie’s wine expertise to select each individual wine, creating a series of unique mixed cases. Whether you decide to enjoy them with a party of guests or to give them as a very personal gift, these are wines from which memories are made.

The Dinner Party

The 1990 La Grande Dame is produced from a blend of grapes from eight Grand Cru vineyards, being 61% Pinot Nior and 39% Chardonnay. Esteemed expert Robert Parker described Veuve-Clicquot, La Grande Dame 1990 as “exquisitely rich and accessible, yet bursting with potential”.

The Hors d’oeuvre: 2 bottles 2002 Puligny-Montrachet, Les Combettes, Sauzet
Domaine Etienne Sauzet is one of the finest producers in the Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, famous for their outstanding white wines. This Puligny-Montrachet, Les Combettes is from the exceptional 2002 vintage producing a wine that combines richness, depth of flavour and complexity.

The Main Course: 2 bottles 1986 Château Ducru Beaucaillou

The Dessert: 1 bottle 1988 Château Coutet
1988 was an exceptional year for Sauternes with optimum climatic conditions creating the ideal environment for the development of noble rot and the subsequent complexity and concentration of flavours that this fungus creates. Château Coutet has 38 hectares of vineyards, planted with 75% Semillon, 23% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle – the three classic grape varieties for this delectable sweet wine. The 1988 is an outstanding effort from the Château with aromas and flavours of apricot, marmalade and honey.

To Finish: 1 bottle 1977 Fonseca
Complete your evening with a bottle from one of the finest port houses, Fonseca, and from one of the finest vintages of the last half-century. Robert Parker, writing in the 2nd Edition of Buying Guide, stated that Fonseca produces “the most exotic and most complex port”.
