Invitation to Consign: 19th Century European Art, Including Orientalist Art

Christie’s sales of 19th Century European Art, Including Orientalist Art continue to show strong results.  With competitive bidding attracting international clients from over 20 countries on six continents, there has been consistently high interest in the top lots.

Recent activity includes the London sale cover lot by Vilhelm Hammershøi realising the third highest price for the artist at auction (£ 892,450), as well as a world record price at auction for Fausto Zonaro’s Mafalda on the Banks of the Bosphorus, the Dolmabahçe Mosque in the background (£ 361,250). The recent New York sale demonstrated strength across many of the schools, from Barbizon to Academic, from Orientalist to Victorian.
