During December, Christie's international specialists visit the regional office in Mumbai to join Sonal Singh. Together they will be accepting consignments for our forthcoming sales in London.

The record results achieved by our department this year demonstrate the continued demand for Indian masters. Of particular note is our success with Tyeb Mehta. At our recent London sale in June 2011, we sold the artist's exceptional Figure on Rickshaw for £1,973,250 (US$3,232,186), setting a new world record for the artist. This is the second highest price ever achieved in this field, after Syed Haider Raza's Saurashtra, which realised £2,393,250 (US$3,454,510) in Christie's June 2010 sale.
