Lot Essay

When he hit upon a successful composition, Grimshaw often repeated it. This view of Bonchurch is similar to one sold at Christie's, London, 8 June 2006, lot 201 (£209,600), differing only in format (the example in June was vertical, this is horizontal, although the dimensions are the same) and tonality.
