8^o. 6-page publisher's advertisement at end. (Some spotting as usual.) Original blue cloth, publisher's device at center of each cover, orange endpapers, two flyleaves at front and back (spine slightly darkened and leaned, some light buckling to cloth on covers, light wear at extremities, front inner joint a little weak); quarter morocco slipcase. Provenance: D. Rosell, Jr. (contemporary bookplate).

FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, first binding, following the English edition by a month and containing some thirty-five passages not present in the English edition. BAL 13664; Grolier American 60; Johnson High Spots 57.
