Lot Essay

Francis Russell, 4th Earl of Bedford (1588-1641), drained the Fens of Cambridge, Huntingdonshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Northamptonshire the so-called Bedford Level. He married Catharine Brydges (d. 1656/57), daughter and co-heir of 3rd Baron Chandos of Sudeley and had issue.
