Lot Essay

Kilmurry House, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, was the life-long home of Mildred Butler. Butler left this home to her third cousin Doreen Archer Houblon along with many of her paintings. Doreen lived at Kilmurry with her husband and later her sister Kitty, until her death in December 1977. Doreen had no children so it was Kitty's daughter, Mrs Eve Kaye who eventually inherited the house and its possessions.
