Astronaut Signed Letter
A typewritten letter on white stationary (with American Eagle watermark) signed by five Gemini astronauts, dated August 10, 1965 which reads To Whom It May Concern: Mr. Lewis Hartzell served as chef during the final pre-flight training period for the Gemini 4 and 5 flight crews. In this capacity he was responsible for preparing low residue diet menus as well as regular meals. It is our considered opinion that the quality and quantity of his meals posed a real threat to the space program - we ate so much we almost overloaded the spacecraft before launch! Signed, Elliot See, Neil Armstrong, Gordon Cooper, Charles Conrad Jr., Deke Slayton in black and blue ink. 8x10½in.
