TRANSITIONAL STYLE, CIRCA 640-625 B.C
With details in red, decorated with two registers of animal and monster friezes, both with a swan flanked by recumbent sphinxes, a standing lion and panther at each end, the back of the lower register with a bull flanked by a standing lion and panther, dotted rosettes in the field, the registers divided by thick black bands with groups of fine red encircling bands, rays above the foot, cream-coloured rosettes around base of neck, on rotelles and at top of broad ridged handle, a central dot and encircling black bands on underside of foot
