SALT, Henry. Twenty Four Views taken in St. Helena, the Cape, India, Ceylon, Abyssinia & Egypt. London: William Miller, 1809

Oblong elephant folio (565 x 785mm., some plates slightly smaller), uncoloured aquatint title/dedication and 24 fine hand-coloured aquatint plates by D. Havell, J. Bluck, J. Hill and S. Rawle after Salt on thick paper (two sheets pasted together), plates 20, 21 and 22 with In Abyssinia added in ink to plate caption (the larger plates with slight marginal dust soiling and occasional small tears). Contemporary boards, large red morocco labels lettered in gilt on sides (rebacked and recornered with calf)

The drawings were made when Salt accompanied George Annesley, Viscount Valentia, as his secretry on the first British Museum Mission to Abyssinia, sent to conclude an alliance against Napoleon. The text to the work, ostensibly by Lord Valentia, is not present as usual. Abbey Travel 515; Tooley 440
