Lot Essay

This filoscope subject was taken from the R. W. Paul film The Soldier's Courtship of April/May 1896.
The filoscope descriptive page records that the film was enacted on the roof of the Alhambra Theatre, London, for exhibition in the Cinematographe [sic]. The principal actors were Fred Story and Julie Searle from the Alhambra Ballets.
