modelled by R. Wilson with masts, yards with furled sails, standing and running rigging, figurehead, headrails, deck rails, belaying rails, capstans, companionways, hatches, deck house, three up-turned ship's boats, saloon lights, binnacle, helm and other details. The hull 'copper' sheathed below the waterline is finished in black and mounted on two turned brass columns within wood-bound glazed display case with legend. Overall measurements -- 8¼ x 13½in. Lot Essay

The British tea clipper Taitsing was built by Charles Connell of Glasgow, for Findlay & Longmuir of Greenock in 1865. Constructed of wood planking over ironwork frames, she measured 192 feet in length and 31.5 feet in breath, with a depth of 20.15 feet and net tonnage of 815. She continued her participation in the Far Eastern Trade, until she was lost on Nyuni Island, off the Coast of Zanzibar on the 20th September 1883.
