    Pre-Lot Text

Tibet House US was founded in 1987 at the request of His Holiness the Dalai Lama who saw the need for a permanent institution to preserve the living culture of Tibet. Based in New York City, Tibet House serves both the general public and the local Tibetan community as: A Public Museum, Shrine Room, and Library; A Cultural Embassy and Educational Institution; A Conservancy for Tibetan Art; A Conference and Retreat Center; and A Membership Community. By presenting the endangered Tibetan culture, with its special art of freedom, we hope to inspire people to join in our effort to save it.
