70 x 70mm., 235 + 2 leaves, each with 17 lines of black minute ghubari, sura headings in red, within blue and gold rules,very fine opening double page illumination containing sura al-fatiha with gold and polychrome vegetal arabesque over blue ground, the next page with illuminated headpiece over start of sura al-baqara with similar arabesque on gold ground, last page dated 1141 in numerals, original lacquer binding and leather case, some staining, binding chipped
The correct estimate should read $3,000-4,000. The main manuscript is probably 17th century, with the opening 2 leaves and final folio replaced in the 19th century, at the same the margins were enhanced.
