Inscribed with a lengthy poetic inscription discussing a recluse and his natural surroundings, followed by the date, Spring, Yi Mao year (corresponding to 1999) and the signature of the artist, with one seal of the artist: Liu Dan Yin; together with the subject of the painting, a ying scholar's rock, the black limestone with numerous slender seams of white calcite, the vertical form of irregular outline with an angular overhang and small perforation
