Lot Essay

Archduchess Maria Carolina of Austria, Queen of Naples and Sicily (1752-1814) was Queen Consort and de facto ruler of Naples from 1768 to 1799 and of Sicily from 1768 to her death in 1814, though she lost de facto power in 1812.
She was the sister of Archduchess Maria Amalia of Austria, Duchess of Parma and Piacenza (1746-1804) and of Marie Antoinette.
