Lot Essay

The Story of Rebecca and Elizier was popular as an illustration of a dutiful woman. Sent by the King to find him a suitable wife, Elizier is struck by Rebecca's unusual diligence in drawing water for his thirsty camels. The Longridge Collection contains three versions of this story.
