Lot Essay

Because Star Trek: Enterprise planned to make extensive use of its shuttles from the very first episode, the studio was willing to spend a lot more money on this cockpit than if it had been planned only for occasional use. Many of the control panels have labeling that was based on the controls in the actual space shuttle. NASA astronauts and flight controllers who visited the studio reported that they felt right at home in this shuttlepod mockup.
