Lot Essay

Loosely inspired by the General Motors pavilion at the 1964 New York World's Fair. The actual Starfleet Command exteriors for this episode were filmed at the Tillman water reclamation plant in the San Fernando Valley. This model was photographed and added to the establishing shot, helping to expand the already-futuristic complex and bringing it more fully into Star Trek's century.
