The European Connoisseur 500 Years: Decorative Arts Europe sale realised a total of £3,417,750 / $5,304,348 / €4,279,023.Anne Qaimmaqami, Specialist and Head of Sale, commented: “The results of ‘The European Connoisseur 500 Years: Decorative Arts Europe’ reflect the continued appetite for works of great quality and rare provenance. We are particularly pleased with the prices achieved by the Italian ormolu-mounted pietra dura and ebony casket, attributed to the Grand Ducal workshops which realized £145,250, and the late Louis XV ormolu-mounted porphyry vase which fetched £175,250, both making almost three times their pre-sale estimates. The pair of Russian marquetry games-tables attributed to Christian Meyer, St. Petersburg, circa 1798 led the sale realizing £253,250. We look forward to ‘The Decorative Arts Sale’ in Amsterdam on 2 & 3 October 2012.”
