New York—Christie’s is pleased to announce strong sales results for the fall season of FIRST OPEN | New York, which took place from September 20-30 across live and online auctions, spanning Post-War and Contemporary Art, Editions, Photographs and Design—and featured the single-artist sale, Prints and Works on Paper from the Private Studio of Wayne Thiebaud.

Combined, the auctions realized $17,512,251 and attracted substantial online participation with an average of about 20% new registrants per online sale. The top lot of the auction series was Helen Frankenthaler’s (1928-2011), Pirouette, which sold for $1,027,500 (pictured left), in the First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art live auction.

Top selling artists from the week included Helen Frankenthaler, Richard Prince, Andy Warhol, Yoshitomo Nara, Roy Lichtenstein, and Julian Opie, among others.  Highlights from each sale are included below.
