Aristide Courtois, Charles Ratton: At the heart of the Madeleine Meunier Collection

15 December 2016, Paris

In association with Millon, Christie's is delighted to offer the collection of Madeleine Meunier, at Drouot in Paris.

Meunier was married to two leading figures in the world of African art, Aristide Courtois and Charles Ratton. The upcoming sale, which will feature nearly 50 pieces of African and Oceanic art, has generated great excitement among collectors.

Auction highlights include a Luba-Shankadi headrest from the Master of the Cascade Coiffure and a Fang statue from Gabon - both features in the renowned 1953 film Les Statues Meurent Aussi (Statues Also die), directed by Chris Marker and Alain Resnais.
