Margot Rosenberg joined the American Decorative Arts department in 1989 and became head of the Folk Art division in 2002. Under her direction the department organized the seminal sales of Pennsylvania German Folk Art: The Collection of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Scott, Jr. (1994), the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Flanders Smith (1995). She has been involved with other notable auctions such as the American furniture collections of Howard & May Joynt (1990); of Mr. & Mrs. Eddy Nicholson (1995); and the John Gordon Collection of Folk Americana (1999). During her tenure at Christie's, she has cultivated strong relationships with collectors, museum professionals and members of the trade. Most recently, Ms. Rosenberg was appointed head of the American Decorative Arts Department and presided over the highly successful sale of the Goddess Liberty Weathervane for $1.08 million, setting a world auction record for a weathervane (2006); and of The Property from the Collection of Mrs. J. Insley Blair, which produced the highest results of $32,291,320 for a single-owner collection of Americana. A graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, Ms. Rosenberg also holds an advanced degree from the New York School of Interior Design.
