Christie's is the only auction house to hold sales dedicated to three centuries of British Art on Paper in June and November of each year. Our strength as the definitive market leader in this field has given this category an international stage and produced exceptional auction results.

In our June 2006 British Art on Paper sale, The Blue Rigi: Lake of Lucerne, Sunrise by Joseph Mallord William Turner, R.A. achieved £5,832,000 ($11,480,276), setting new world auction records, both for a work by Turner and for any British work on paper. Christie's has also established world auction records for works on paper by a number of renowned British artists, including Thomas Gainsborough; Samuel Palmer; Edward Lear; David Roberts; Sir Edward Burne-Jones; Sir Edwin Landseer; Dante Gabriel Rossetti; and Augustus John.
