Christie's has been the world market leader in jewellery since 1994 -- with sales totalling a record US$395 million in 2007, an increase of 11% over 2006 (US$355 million), which was already up by 27% over a then record 2005 (US$279 million). These results, the highest ever achieved by any auction house, confirm Christie's position of world market leader for jewellery auctions. Christie's 2007 market share compared to its principal competitor stands at 57%, or 54% taking into consideration all major international auctioneers. For the 14th year in a row, Christie's maintains pole position in the category. Christie's jewellery auctions take place in Amsterdam, Dubai, Geneva, Hong Kong, London-King Street, London-South Kensington, Milan, New York, Paris, and St. Moritz.
Christie's auctions typically feature modern and period jewels, signed and unsigned, and a variety of precious stones. We also host regular theme sales featuring specific periods, styles or jewelers.
**As a special service to our clients, Christie's offers private jewelry sales in addition to our regular public auctions. If you are looking to buy a jewel, this service will help you find a specific piece, at a competitive price, outside of the auction rooms. If you are looking to sell, Christie’s unique client database and global network will enable us to quickly identify potential buyers with an interest in individual stones or jewels.
