Gregg Dietrich has worked with Christie's since 1995 and the introduction of the Maritime department at Christie's East working on the first Oceanliner sales. He is a graduate of Cornell University with a double major in art and art history, and family background in maritime history, specializing in British and American yachting, and the American navy of the 20th century. He specializes in ship models but also has an extensive knowledge of maritime paintings, nautical objects, navigational and scientific instruments, and ocean liner decorative arts. He has published a number of articles about collecting in this field, most recently Artists with an Eye to the Sea in Antiques & Fine Art Magazine in 2001.

Mr. Dietrich is a member of New York Yacht Club, and is a senior member of the model committee. He was the technical advisor for the U.S. Men's Olympic 470 Team at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, CA; and was the development director for the Executive Committee of the U.S. Olympic Yachting Committee charged with developing the first women's Olympic sailing team and the sailboard team at the 1988 Olympics at Seoul, Korea. Mr. Dietrich continues to be an active competitor on an international circuit of Team Racing representing New York Yacht Club, and racing aboard the Swan 44 Vixen as tactician and mainsail trimmer.
