佳士得於2006年5月在迪拜舉行首場當代中東藝術拍賣，盛況空前，成為中東藝術市場發展的轉捩點。在短短四年間，當代中東藝術迅速冒起，廣為世界各地博物館、藝廊、策展人與收藏家重視。
馬哈穆德‧賽伊德(Mahmoud Said)的《The Whirling Dervishes》以2,546,500美元成交，為佳士得刷新阿拉伯及伊朗油畫的世界成交紀錄。
在4月及10月舉行的迪拜拍賣，不但促進中東當代藝術市場的發展，更提高全球藏家對此類藝術品的關注。2008年，佳士得於迪拜拍賣推出土耳其藝術品，令藏品的來源地更多元化。
