Nordic Art & Design
Christie’s continues to sell the finest iconic Nordic art and design from the 19th and 20th Centuries. This concept sale, launched in 2006, captures the imagination of our most discerning collectors worldwide (almost 80% are from outside the Nordic countries) who avidly compete for established art and design from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The clean style of Scandinavian art and furniture suits the modern home and fits in beautifully in classic interiors.
Following the success of the inaugural Nordic Art & Design sale in 2006, Christie’s established once again a series of new world auction records in June 2007, including £557,600 for Det Gamle Klaver, Strandgade 30 by Vilhelm Hammershøi, which shattered previous prices for the artist.
