Christie’s is honored to be entrusted with The Collection of Charles and Nonie de Limur. Assembled with great care and consideration, the range of their aesthetic interests is reflected in the synthesis of 18th century works of art with extraordinary paintings and watercolors. From Giovanni Boldini’s superb Suonatrice di lira e ascoltatrice (Woman Playing a Lyre and a Listener) and Claude Monet’s Bateaux de Pêche, temps calme which reveals the beauty of the Normandy Coast; to the wonderful works by leading modernists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, Jean Dubuffet and Jack Butler Yeats; Charles and Nonie de Limur collected across categories and developed a deeply personal and sophisticated sense of style. Heirs of the founders of the Crocker Art Museum, Charles and Nonie’s collection will serve to enlighten the next generation of collectors.
