EVENT DATE: 13-19 December 2013
A unique collaboration between Christie’s and Fashion Illustration Gallery in partnership with Issa London.
From 13th – 19th December 2013, Christie’s South Kensington will host the Fashion Illustration Gallery for an exhibition and series of events - including a panel discussion, talk with David Downton and guided tours by Tony Glenville - to celebrate this category of artistic endeavour and enterprise.
The exhibition will present drawings, paintings and prints by the world’s leading artists working in this field today; David Downton, Tanya Ling, Gladys Perint Palmer, Hiroshi Tanabe, Richard Haines, Mats Gustafson, Francois Berthoud, Jean-Philippe Delhomme and Ricardo Fumanal, amongst others.
In recent years interest in fashion illustration has grown both culturally and commercially; a fact reflected in the publication of books about the genre, great commercial and editorial commissioning and significantly in the art market; museum exhibitions, selling exhibitions and auctions. Fashion Illustrators are gaining international repute and their works have become highly collectable.
As leaders in the fields of art and fashion, attracting attention internationally, Christie’s, Fashion Illustration Gallery and Issa London are natural collaborators for this exhibition.
