Recent sales of 19th Century European art have seen a resurgence of demand for the great French names that have traditionally defined the art history of the period, such as Delacroix, Daumier, the Barbizon School and Courbet. For example, the London sale on 15 June offered ten paintings by Corot which were fought over by buyers from around the world. The sale saw notable activity from clients in new markets, in particular mainland China, illustrating the perennial appeal of artists in this category. In addition, good prices were achieved for artists of the Belle Epoque, and for Orientalist and Symbolist works.
We are now accepting consignments for our next sale. If you are interested in consigning to our December sale and would like to arrange an appointment for a free valuation of your property, please do not hesitate to contact the department directly.
Consignment Deadline: 21 September 2011.
