Furniture for Your Literature

“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” - Cicero (106-43 B.C.)

The great Argentine writer, Jorge Luis Borges, once said that he had always imagined paradise to be a kind of library. He spent much of his time in libraries, presumably fascinated by them for both their visual and intellectual appeal. There is indeed something indescribably precious about a place where an unspoken code of silence is routinely respected, and where every morning the works of the greatest writers and thinkers wake up beside each other on the shelves waiting to be consumed by a keen reader… Whether it is a grand labyrinthine construction or a private little corner in the attic, every library needs the right kind of furniture. With very attractive estimates, why not indulge in the perfect set of 19th century library steps or a charming 17th century Italian desk to create the right setting to house all your books.

And for the walls…
We have an eclectic selection of drawings and paintings from the 16th to 19th centuries especially French, Italian, Flemish and Dutch school artists. Of particular interest is this charming watercolour by Thomas Rowlandson.
