The Collection of Mrs. Sidney F. Brody boasts a wealth of master works by the towering figures of the Modernist movement, making it one of the most valuable single-owner collections ever offered at auction. The strength of the collection is exemplified by a trio of works: Pablo Picasso’s Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust (estimate upon request), Henri Matisse’s Nu au coussin bleu (estimate: $20-30 million), and Alberto Giacometti’s Grande tête mince (estimate: $25-35 million). Christie’s Conor Jordan, Sharon Kim and Brooke Lampley discuss these masterpieces and preview the collection which comprises a special section of the Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale on 4 May 2010, with additional works to be offered in a dedicated single-owner session the following day.
