Since 2001, Christie’s London has dedicated a section of the February Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale to Surrealist Art. The top lot at the 2 February Art of the Surreal Evening Sale was Le Baiser, 1957, by René Magritte, a representation of the ‘Sky-Bird’, one of the artist’s most celebrated motifs. The work sold for £1,217,250 against a pre-sale estimate of £600,000 to £800,000. (RT: 2:04)
