Mappa, by Alighiero Boetti, sold for £1,833,250 at the Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in London on 30 June, setting a new auction record for the artist. Executed in 1989 and measuring over 2 metres in length, this work is a unique and particularly poignant example of the artist’s extraordinary Mappe series, which predicted the power of globalization.
