Creativity and Innovation: Contemporary Jewellers of the Middle East

The upcoming auction of Jewels and Watches will offer exceptional designs that showcase the creativity of the leading contemporary jewellers of the Middle East.

André Marcha
Established is 1969, André Marcha is an esteemed Lebanese jewellery designer whose "sculptor spirit" inspires some of the most unique pieces of jewellery in the region. Inspired by concepts from nature such as flowers and animals, André Marcha always strives to bring new ideas to his pieces with a particular attention to shapes and colours and the way they interact together.

Selim Mouzannar
Born into a generations-old family of jewellers, Selim Mouzannar found inspiration through years of travels around the globe before returning to his native Lebanon, starting his own company in 1998. His reputation quickly outgrew the boarders of Lebanon, from Dubai to Paris to New York. Selim Mouzannar’s jewelry is inspired by Lebanese history and a society at a crossroads of cultures and religions. Translating this inspiration into beauty, his pieces are very modern yet infused with a sense of ancestral tradition.

Sevan Bicakci
Sevan Bicakci is one of the most renowned and admired jewellers in Turkey. His journey in the world of jewellery started at the very young age of 12 at his master Hovsep Catak’s workshop. After working in the Grand Bazaar for more than 15 years, he launched his first collection in 2002. His inspiration is a celebration of the history of Istanbul. Each piece is unique and hand-assembled and takes up to a year to produce. Dubbed the 'Lord of the Rings', his work has attracted the attention of Hollywood stars and collectors throughout the world.

Noor Fares
Launched in 2009, Noor is an exquisite jewellery collection created by the young and talented Lebanese designer Noor Fares. Noor had an extraordinarily international upbringing, living between Lebanon, Europe, the United Sates and the Middle East. Her jewels are a result of a blend of these travels, her Middle Eastern background and the inspiring work of architects such as Frank Guery and Zaha Hadid. Original and distinctive, the Noor collection is tactile and playful, and certain to be loved by all who wear it.

Nadine Kanso
Nadine Kanso was born and raised in Lebanon before moving to Dubai- where she calls Home today. In 2000, she founded Bil’ Arabi - which literally translates to 'In Arabic' - an unusual jewellery line which plays on Arabic words, employing them to create pieces that project a contemporary understanding of the inherent beauty, calligraphic form and lyricism of the Arabic alphabet and language. Apart from creating beautiful pieces, Nadine’s quest is to capture the emergence of the modern Arab identity in the 21st century as she sees it – unique, unavoidable and with a need to be seen and heard.
