Christie’s is pleased to present Russian America and Polar Exploration: Highlights from the Martin Greene Library, an extensive collection of highly important books chronicling the exploration of the Earth’s extremes. Spanning the 16th to the 20th centuries, this fine library includes the most significant collection of Russian America books ever to come to auction, led by the incredibly rare and beautiful Russian-German account and atlas of Ivan Kruzenshtern’s voyage of 1802-1806, the first Russian circumnavigation of the globe. It is one of the most magnificent works of 19th century Russian printing and includes particularly important views of the Northwest Coast of America.
