Specialist Simon de Monicault presents highlights from our 30 November sale of decorative objects with extraordinary provenance
This year, our Exceptional Sale will take place on 30 November at Christie’s Paris. The auction brings together a broad range of rare and extraordinary works, including key pieces from Jean-Henri Riesener, Patek Philippe and the Russian Imperial manufactory at Tula.
An incredible variety of masterpieces, most of them with royal or princely provenance, will be on offer, from Qianlong porcelain and crafts from the Georges III silversmithery to Barthélemy Prieur bronzes. Further highlights include a writing table made for Louis XVI at Fontainebleau, and the revolver used by the French poet Paul Verlaine in his attempt to kill Arthur Rimbaud.
