The Fine and Rare Wines auction on 24 November at Christie’s in Hong Kong features an impressive selection of century-old Madeira, including the oldest bottles in the sale, Torre Bella Terrantez from 1801. These old bottles are all reconditioned, tested and re-corked for modern connoisseurs to enjoy at prices that range from HK$20,000 to HK$40,000.
Also in the sale are exceptional German vintages direct from Kloster Eberbach, which boasts 900 years of viniculture, and the Van Volxem estate, which features 130-year-old self-rooted Riesling vines.
In addition, there are specially selected wines direct from the Cape Winelands, which has been the centre of South African wine production for the past 350 years; mixed lots from the 2018 Decanter Asia Wines Awards; and a comprehensive assortment of iconic Burgundies and Bordeaux from legendary producers and chateaux.
Two days later, on 26 November, 317 rare and unique timepieces, spanning the 1950s to the present day, will be offered in the Important Watches auction.
The highlight of the sale is the Richard Mille section, which includes an extremely rare collection of 11 Richard Mille RM011 Felipe Massa watches, each numbered 00. Estimates for these watches range from HK$1,350,000 to HK$2,200,000.
Other highlights include understated designs by Patek Philippe (including references 3979, 5102, 5370, 5101P, 3970E, 5131, and 5270); an array of vintage wristwatches manufactured between 1950s and the 1980s; and a selection of modern complications by desirable brands such as A. Lange & Söhne, Greubel Forsey, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet.
