The Art of France celebrates masterpieces in French Painting from the School of Fontainebleau to the Ancien Régime and the Napoleonic Era. Leading this dedicated sale, Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s The Good Mother is one of the prime examples of Fragonard’s maturity, painted on the eve of his return visit to Italy in 1773. Remarkable in its exquisite palette and the meticulous application of paint, this keynote work sets the tone for this exceptional sale.
