The Ismail Merchant Collection features a selection of Indian and Islamic works of art, including a fine Iznik Brule from the Sassoon Collection; Indian Company School drawings with examples by the Fraser Album Artist; a fine Gujarati ivory-inlaid cabinet-on-stand; and a fine selection of Indian textiles, including a Palampore made for the Swedish market. The highlight of the sale is August Schoefft’s depiction of The Thugs of India, an important historical painting.
