Buying at Christie's

Arrange For Payment

If your bid in a traditional auction is successful, you'll receive the following in the mail shortly after the sale:

  • An invoice (the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium as well as any applicable taxes)
  • Payment instructions
  • Property collection notice including date of availability and location of your property
  • Shipping information

Payment is due within seven days after the auction.

We accept wire transfers, bank drafts or cashier's orders, cash or checks. Under certain circumstances, some Christie's salerooms may accept payment by credit card (check with your saleroom for details).

Successful bidders in online-only auctions must log in to their online-only auction account to pay via credit card.

Make Shipping Arrangements

We can help you arrange packing and shipping or you can use your own carrier. Please contact the Art Transport Department for further details.

For buyers in online-only auctions, property is shipped to the address you provided during your registration process. It is not possible to collect online-only auction purchases in person; all purchases must be shipped.
