In the Saleroom: Marino Marini's Cavaliere

Description

Cavaliere is the quintessential example of Marino Marini's most iconic theme, the horse and rider. Conceived in 1951, arguably the most important moment in Marini's artistic career, this impressive sculpture of a rider losing control of his horse heralds the sense of climax and crisis that was increasingly dominating Marini's work. The sculpture led the record-breaking Italian Sale in London on 14 October, selling for £4,465,250, a world record price for the artist at auction. (RT: 4:10)
