Femme assise, robe bleue, a portrait of Dora Maar, who became Pablo Picasso’s lover and muse at the expense of Marie-Thérèse Walter, sold for £17,961,250 at the Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale in London on 21 June 2011. Painted in 1939 shortly after the outbreak of the World War II, it had been unseen since it was exhibited at the legendary Galerie Beyeler in 1967 from whom it was acquired by the family of the present owner in 1968.
