Camille Pissarro's Portail de l'Eglise Saint-Jacques à Dieppe and van Gogh's Peasant Woman, Half Figure, Sitting are the highlights of the Impressionist & Modern Art (Day Sale) along with works by other masters such as Gustave Caillebotte, Berthe Morisot and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Fauve and Cubist artists are also represented alongside Picasso, Miro, Leger and Braque. Of special note in the sculpture section is a cast of Constantin Brancusi's Le supplice I. This magnificent piece has not been on the market since it was acquired from the artist by the late owner in 1909.
Christie's sale of Impressionist and Modern Works on Paper features a broad selection of drawings, ranging from Pierre-Auguste Renoir's La grande baigneuse to Henri Matisse's Theme K Variation 1 from the Themes et Variations series published in 1943.
