    A LARGE GROUP OF COPTIC WOOL AND LINEN TEXTILE FRAGMENTS
    CIRCA 3RD-10TH CENTURY A.D.
    Mostly clavi, roundels and decorative fragments from tunics, including a large roundel in dark purple with fine cream embroidered interlacing patterns, within double interlocked chains, a cross-shaped motif alongside, 17¾ x 15 in. (45 x 38 cm.) max.; two similar large roundels with fine cream embroidered patterns, 12¼ in. (31 cm.) diam. max., all 4th-5th Century A.D.; a clavus on red wool background, with stylized figures arranged head to toe, on dark blue, 12 3/8 in. (31.5 cm.) long, circa 8th-10th Century A.D.; an arm band with details in dark brown, with stylized dancing figures and animals in offset linking frames; another similar, both 9 7/8 in. (25 cm.) long; a clavus in dark blue with fine cream embroidered interlacing patterns, a rectangular panel with a stylized dancing figure flanked by roundels with lions on either side, 15¾ in. (40 cm.) long, all circa 5th-6th Century A.D.; and a large quantity of other fragments, circa 3rd-7th Century A.D.(a lot)
