    Cast in one piece, cylindrical in form with raised bands at the rim and base, and a long vertical handle, the four short feet flush with the raised band, a South Arabian inscription in raised relief with the name of the owner, reading: "Ilsa'ad lineage of 'Asa'Ad"

    The raised bands on this vessel suggest that this is a refined, high-quality version of more humble measures that were made of wood and held together with metal bands at the top and bottom. For a similar example see no. 166, p. 135 in Simpson, Queen of Sheba, Treasures from Ancient Yemen.
