The earliest examples of these plaque amulets go back to Dynasty XXV, (747-656 B.C.). Their function of provisioner of sight in the after-life was emphasized by the multiplication of eyes representations, cf. C. Andrews, Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, pp. 69-70, no. 73a, for a similar amulet.
