The workmanship of this superbly cast bronze figure is a technical tour de force and known in Burma as the chang luang technique. The bronze consists of three metals, namely bronze, copper and silver. This specific metal alloy was mainly used by craftsmen who worked for the royal family members. Actually the gilt and red lacquer contrasting to the silvery shine of the metal gave the sacred image once a mesmerizing appeal when lightened by candles in a dark chapel.
